a caring community of faith

OUR COMMITTEES

We welcome all to join in fellowship in our church community. As members, each of us pledges to accept the responsibilities of carrying out Jesus’ ministry through our church. We believe intentional practice of our faith makes us a better community and better Christians. Through membership votes, our church decisions are proposed and set into motion.

Committee involvement empowers individual members to utilize their special talents and skills, and follow their interests and passions to deepen their experience, while serving the congregation and our surrounding community.

Our Deacons prepare the sanctuary for services and assist the Pastor with these services. They help in the administering of the sacraments and assist the Pastor in the ministry to the sick and needy. The Deacons serve as mentors/contacts for all new members.

Our Trustees oversee the physical maintenance of the church, and parsonage. This hands-on group repairs and replaces malfunctioning parts, addresses building emergencies as needed, arranges for city inspections and sets up maintenance contracts.

The Stewardship Committee is responsible for raising income for the church and educating our members on how to share our talents and time as well as our treasures with one another. Their yearly Stewardship luncheon for the members is a delicious, well attended event.

Our Christian Education Committee develops and administers church education programs for our children. Some of the activities for the year include Rally Sunday, Advent Fair – Craft Fair, the Christmas Pageant, Confirmation classes, and Children’s Sunday. All parents are invited and urged to take part in their child’s spiritual growth.

Our Mission Outreach supports many charitable organizations including Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), Household Goods Drive, Grafton Food Bank, and the Pernet Family Health Center. The annual Christmas Giving Tree, with tags listing gift wishes, supports local agencies such as Crescent Manor Rest Home, Friendly House, Grafton House and Pernet Family Health Service.

Our Music Committee oversees the musical programs of worship and outreach of the church which includes the Chancel Choir, the Handbell choir, and the musical contributions of our congregation. We welcome all who play an instrument to have an opportunity to perform.

Our Pastoral Relations Committee is the sounding board for the pastor to assess effectiveness of his communication to the congregation – and a sounding board for the congregation to communicate to the pastor.

Our Nominating Committee prepares nominations for elected committee positions; provides nominees with a job description, and assists the Cabinet in filling vacancies.

Our Membership Committee creates and oversees programs for church growth and development. Throughout the year our committee gets involved in Kids Fest, Rally Sunday, Christmas Caroling, and updating the church website.

Safe Church Committee is responsible for the development and implementation of Safe Church Policies and Procedures.
